DJ SWISHA: We’re so excited to be welcoming DJ SWISHA to Silk Ends. Juke Bounce Werk crew member and Fool’s Gold Records signee, SWISHA was born in Philadelphia, raised in Los Angeles and currently based in New York City. His regular Bandcamp self-releases range from battle-ready footwork and hypnotic techno to memeable Jersey club edits of Crazy Frog — all hybrid originals that never compromise on a beat that hits. In his recent profile with Tice Cin in DJ Mag he spoke about playing club music and footwork, ““The core of it’s dance-driven and community-built music”.
Oblig: We’re honoured to have community leading DJ Oblig “a fixer, a connector, a joiner of dots”. Born in New York but raised in Ealing, West London, he’s been omnipresent in grime for the last five years plus, building a reputation as one of the genre’s fiercest but also conscientious new-school DJs. His label Obligated Records has already had beautiful tracks like Mercy by Novelist out, and Oblig’s at the centre of so many iconic moments, including Oblig with Dizzee Rascal and friends – a 20 year celebration of Boy in Da Corner.
KIBO: KIBO shines. In his Victory Lap cypher, Dave co-signed KIBO, telling viewers: “You see my man over here, he’s coming like the Victory Lap warrior. This is you man’s hero, innit? This is you man’s king, innit? I feel you because he’s actually moving superhuman today.” Talking about his unique energy on mic, he shared with NME lately, “It’s fun as hell. It’s high-level craic. I’m there to just bust up with my mates and have a good time. That’s my joy and that will always give me joy”. Check out his radio show, EFFUM FM, on online music channel Pound and Yam: “It’s a bi-monthly hang out for all my Kwengletarians”.
Queenie: We’re so happy to have Queenie. Her tracks like Amen and Anymore show clearly how she’s an OG flower on the come up. Queenie’s freestyle with Lioness is so iconic, “Rude boy, I can make a Buddha say Jesus”. Check out her cypher with Oblig joining Lioness, Manga Saint Hilare, & Subten on PyroRadio, and her flow on Lioness’s remix for DBT ft Stush, Shystie, Lady Leshurr & Little Simz
Blay Vision: A native of Tottenham, North London, Blay Vision—an MC/producer who has worked closely with the likes of Boy Better Know, producing for his heroes Jme and Skepta and helping to fly the flag for their borough—is someone who has been on the verge of a breakthrough for quite some time, but his time has finally come with the release of “Cammy Riddim”, an instrumental with enough low-end bass and intergalactic synths to take you to another realm. In his interview with JP at Complex UK he shares, “I definitely want to solidify myself as a certified producer. Everyone always says the same thing when it comes to my music: ‘Blay, you’ve just got that sound. So I’ve embraced that and tried to create a sound that people would have to come to me for.”
M.I.C: North London rapper, producer & pioneer of grime’s newest renaissance. Described by NME as “experimental grime that’s both wonky and wonderful”, M.I.C (shorthand for the Master of Inane Conversation) is a North London based rapper/producer. Having been compared to artists such as FKA TWIGS, A$AP ROCKY and Skepta, as well as being given co-signs from several grime stalwarts (namely JME, Lethal Bizzle and Maxta), In January 2019, M.I.C was featured in the NME 100, NME’s annual rundown of “100 brand new artists set to dominate in the near future”. Since then, he has gone on to play many shows all over the UK (Warehouse Project in Manchester, the monthly night by experimental electronic label Hyperdub “ø” & CRXSS PLATFXRM Festival in Peckham, to name a few), and has been covered by several notable publications, such as Trench, Complex and Dummy Mag. In October 2019, M.I.C’s track “Afropunk Atlanta” was featured on the eighth episode of Blonded Radio (brainchild of one of the most elusive characters in popular music, Frank Ocean). In July 2021, M.I.C came together with Norwood producer Nammy Wams to release “You Can Achieve Anything”, progressive grime which takes as much influence from Nietzsche and anti-religious death metal bands like Immolation as it does from Carn Hill and President T.
